Hector

Hector L Lozada, PT

Hector was born and raised in Puerto Rico where he obtained his Physical Therapy Degree from the University of Puerto Rico.

Throughout the years, Hector has obtained valuable experience in working with different types of clients in a wide array of settings such as rehabilitation hospitals, academic programs and sports clinics.

Hector believes that to better comprehend the patient's conditions, the therapist must understand and experience the way everyday activities affect our body. With that concept in mind, he has been studying and practicing multiple disciplines including: swimming, cycling, running, hiking, rock climbing, martial arts, skiing, weight training, yoga and most recently dance.

"These experiences are of immense value in the sense that they have helped deepen my understanding of how the body moves and how injury occurs. With that understanding, I am able to better design and implement treatment protocols that have been proven to be successful for specific orthopedic and sports injuries".

He has also been a Physical therapy patient himself, following repair of his ACL as a result of skiing mishap.

Hector received a Mastery Certification in Manual Therapy and is a Certified Stott Pilates Rehabilitation Instructor.

David Santana

David Roselló Santana, CPI

David was born and raised in the Canary Islands, Spain. He graduated with a Physical Therapy Degree in 2003. In 2004 he moved to Madrid and got his Pilates Certification by the “Federación Española de Gimnasia”.

David moved to NYC in 2008, and is currently working with private clients and as a pilates rehab assistant.

Through his experience, he has noticed there is a tendency for people to think that you get in shape by participating in sports, however, he believes that you need to be in shape to practice sports, and this is where Pilates plays an important role. Breathing, alignment, control of the movement and strengthening of the postural muscles, are some of the principles of Pilates, which are essential for preventing many injuries while playing sports.

"I have come across a lot of patients who suffered from chronic back problems, or other type of injures that would not allow them to practice their favourite activity, or just go through their daily routine with no pain. I have seen how Pilates has helped them reach a normal life with no limitations, and how much they have learned about how the body works".

Currently David is preparing to take the exam for the State Boards of Physical Therapy and become also a Physical Therapist in New York State.
